Cardiac Rehabilitation is primarily an out-patient program, designed specifically for a person recovering from a heart attack, heart surgery, or other heart problems. People of virtually any age can benefit from a cardiac rehab program. Components of the rehab program include exercise, lifestyle changes, education and emotional support. The goals are to achieve a greater health status, to help prevent further heart problems, and to help a person enjoy a more active life.
The cardiac rehabilitation team at South Haven Health System consists of a Physician, a Registered Nurse, a Respiratory Therapist, a Registered Dietitian, and an Exercise Physiologist. The rehabilitation program is in the Shoreline Wellness and Rehabilitation Center.
A physician’s referral is required for cardiac rehabilitation, so if you have a heart condition, ask your doctor if you might benefit from the cardiac rehabilitation program at South Haven Health System.
