Computed Tomography (CT)

CT scanning—sometimes called CAT scanning—is a noninvasive medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.

South Haven Health System has a state of the art GE VCT 64 slice scanner. This exceptionally fast multi slice scanner improves each patients experience by reducing the time a patient must hold their breath, the table lowers closer to the floor and will accommodate patients up to 500 #’s. We strive to make your experience comfortable and to answer all questions you may have.

CT scanning combines special x-ray equipment with sophisticated computers to produce multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body. These cross-sectional images of the area being studied can then be examined on a computer monitor or printed.

CT scans of internal organs, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels provide greater clarity and reveal more details than regular x-ray exams.

You should wear comfortable loose fitting clothing. Some exams require you to drink an oral prep that is generally started 2 hours prior to your appointment. Please check with you healthcare provider for pre-testing preps required for your examination.

To schedule an exam or for general questions please call 269-639-2828 option 1.
