Health Information

The Hospital's role in Community Health Education is simple: Make our resources available to area people in order to help build a healthier community!

We provide health information in a variety of ways, from radio talk shows to programs provided for groups or clubs; from health fairs to free or low-cost screening clinics for particular diseases or conditions; from safety classes on lifting for area factory workers to healthy cooking classes for those with diabetes or cardiovascular disease.

As part of our website, there are links available to WebMD and Healthy Links (Michigan Department of Community Health) where you can research specific health information on a wide variety of healthy living tips, diseases, or health conditions. Another site where some people can find helpful information is the American Cancer Society. Due to the many new diagnostic imaging techniques now available, as well as interventional radiology and radiation therapy, we also have a link to a patient education site called RadiologyInfo (www.radiologyinfo.org) which fully explains many radiological procedures, including a relatively simple, yet important diagnostic test for women - Mammography. We are proud that our Mammorgraphy program at SHCH is fully accredited by the American College of Radiology!

A calendar of events is provided to let you know about upcoming programs or events which your hospital is sponsoring. We also welcome you to call our Community Health Improvement Department at 269-639-2805 regarding health information or classes which are of interest to you.
